Summary

Preparation (April-May 2004)

After having quited my job, instead of findig a new one, I suddenly came up with the idea of travelling around the world. So I ended all my affairs in the Netherlands and said goodbye.

North America (June-Dec 2004)

Biking through Canada and US. In Calgary I bought a bicycle, crossed the Rocky mountains to Vancouver, and biked soutwards along the beautiful US west-coast down to San Fransisco, to Yosemite and finally Las Vegas.

Mexico, Jorge and Andrea. As soon as I entered Mexico, I met Jorge and all his party friends in Chihuahua, wild times! Things got even crazier when I met Andrea, we fell madly in love at first sight, and stayed together for two months. In the mean time I got a serious food poisoning, giving me plenty of time to learn Spanish while recovering.

biking through South Mexico. I resumed bicycling and bussing through the beautiful south of Mexico, with its impressive ruines, nature and cities, until I reached Cancun to meet Andrea again.

Central America. I left my bike in Mexico and started bussing through Central America: Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica, and flew to South America.

South America (Dec 2004 - May 2005)

Peru. Inca ruines, indigineous culture, climbing vulcanos and canyons.

Bolivia. An incredible country: La Paz, the jungle, the mountains, the silver mines, and the most weird place on earth, Salar de Uyuni, with its salt plane, deserts, mineral lakes, vulcanoes and geisers.

Chili and Argentina.Zig zagging south acros the Andes to see the natural wonders of Chili and Argentina. a.o. live vulcanoes and huge gletsjers.

Buenos Aires. I met up with Sergio from Mexico in the European capital in Sout America.

Brasil. Besides natural wonders, I had some dangerous adventures with the Brasilian police in Rio, and with Ariane in Salvador de Bahia.

Cuba. Together with my Dutch Jut, I visited this very interesting and complex country.

Mexico. After a short stopover in Cancun I flew back to the Netherlands.

"Summer" break in the Netherlands (June 2005 - March 2006)

"Summer" break in Netherlands. I intended to stay a couple of weeks to find new people to rent my house to, but I ended up staying 9 months, working again and lots of other stuff.
